LIVE VIDEOS

These gig videos were recorded entirely live,  shot at a small venue in London, where we went on after Coldplay and Blur*. Yes, look impressed, because it is impressive. They were captured on 7  cameras  and edited by (http://www.karlwatson.net)

*it was 10/15 years after – but it still counts.

PROMOTIONAL/LIVE VISUALS VIDEOS

1. We Don’t Believe In Love No More

A rough but fine little video, made ostensibly to accompany us on stage on our massive video screens when we play this song – to distract from the fact we are all so ugly. We Don’t Believe In Love no more is about a few different ideas, that all I guess have the idea of sometimes feeling fed from every angle the idea of having to incessently and indiscriminately seek out something new, something different, something ‘better’ than we already have, and what often seems like the absence of any sort of appraisal of what we already have – and how tiring that can be. Huh, heavy. Look out for the cheeky white boy samba guitar solo section 2/3 of the way in to lighten the mood. Artwork from (http://www.nathanvernau.com) features. 2. Nobody Else Will Know

A rough but fine little video, made ostensibly to accompany us on stage on our massive video screens when we play this song – to distract from the fact we are all so ugly. Hang on…

Nobody Else Will Know is a brash, expansive sort of a rock song about nothing more than wanting to escape, to get away – not in a Thompsons summer sun in Corfu sort of a way – its more about the idea of 2 people wanting to retreat into their own little world, in whatever sense. I think the whole tone of the lyric can be summed up by one of the final lines ‘we’ll run so fast that sparks will fly, we’ll move our feet and we’ll kick up dust, cos through the skin and the bone and the blood, we are young and in wanderlust – and nobody else will know’. The song was written in India, which makes it sounds far more exotic than it actually is, or something that the NME would blather on about in a preview of some haircuts new album, but whatever, it was written there so nyyyyerrr :) As far as ‘interesting facts about songs that were written in India’ go – it is definitely better than ‘Wild Honey Pie’ by the Beatles, but probably not as good as ‘The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill’ – but then what is. That all American bullet headed Saxon Mother’s son – Altogether now !

4. Lux Lisbon vs The Commonwealth

Once upon a time Lux were telephoned by the Queen (or someone) and told their songs were the sonic equivalent of ‘an intergovernmental organisation of fifty-four independent member states that were formerly part of the British Empire’ (which pleased them as that is exactly what they had been going for) so they and their madbeatz were cordially invited to gently sway the chandeliers and soundtrack atrocious dancing at a celebration of the Commonwealth at, errr, the Commonwealth’s swanky London HQ. As they drank, award winning Videographerizer Karl Watson refrained and spotted the opportunity for a semi-humours short film, sticking cameras in front of them all to record the confused garbage they said and did (and played).

UPDATE : A quick little video of a little singalong of ‘Come In From The Cold’ (http://http://luxlisbon.bandcamp.com/track/come-in-from-the-cold) at the launch night of their new album ‘Your Heart Is A Weapon The Size Of Your Fist’ at Proud Galleries in Camden – includes a stomach turning accompaniment by so many singing bankers you wish they’d bring back Howard Halifax.
